All schools have been directed by Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu to allow form ones to report to their various secondary school with their uniform they used in primary school .
While addressing the public yesterday on Monday, 6 , February, 2023 at St George’s Girls High School in Nairobi , Ezekiel Machogu warned principal against pushing parents to buy school uniform during the day of admission.
Machogu instructed the head of school to make arrangements with parents for them to but uniform at the course of the term while student continue to while instead of send them back home bacause of uniform.
The directive came after parents complained on the high cost of uniform especially where school has directed to buy uniform from a specific shop.
Machogu also take is time to explain to parents on report which is circulating round that the government had increased the school fees for new academic year. Cs said it is not true and he added by saying ministry of Education had provided parents with flexible payment plan.
” I want to make it clear that the government has not increase school fees. The amount is the same as it was set six years ago by Kilemi Mwiria tax force which capped fees for national and extra-county schools ksh53,455. The amount for county school is ksh45,000 and we are asking that money is not paid at one ago. The amount is splited into three terms,” Machogu said.
The Education Cs said the government has already released money for secondary school amounting to ksh22,244 per student. He warned school principal from demanding extra money from parents.
