Edwin Sifuna Homecoming

Edwin Sifuna’s grand homecoming is set for Sunday, July 26, 2026 at  Posta Grounds in Bungoma, organized as part of his _Linda Mwananchi_ tour. The event is more than a return to his roots in Kanduyi — it’s planned as a major political declaration. Leaders in the Linda Mwananchi camp say the rally will be used to roll out their 2027 election plan, including a public endorsement of Sifuna and the launch of grassroots campaigns across all 38 constituencies in Western Kenya.

The homecoming carries big political weight for the region. Sifuna is expected to be installed as the Western region’s kingpin and blessed by elders to seek the presidency in 2027. Bukusu elders, who trace their lineage to Elijah Masinde, have summoned him to receive blessings, seeing him as a potential figurehead to unite the Luhya nation. Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who hosted Sifuna and Linda Mwananchi leaders on July 6 to plan the event, said all Luhya community leaders, council of elders, and organizational heads will attend. The rally follows a major Linda Mwananchi event in Kitale Town on July 25.

There’s tension ahead of the event too. DAP-K leader Wafula Wamunyinyi has accused Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa of plotting to disrupt it by booking a venue a few metres from Posta Grounds for a separate rally on the same day. Wamunyinyi vowed they won’t let it happen this time. Within Luhya politics, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dismissed Sifuna as “politically inexperienced,” while veteran Noah Wekesa has endorsed him as the region’s “emerging kingpin.”

Sifuna was born in Mumias on May 22, 1982, and is a native of Kanduyi, Bungoma County. The homecoming is meant to secure the full blessings of his Mulembe community before he takes the _Linda Mwananchi_ movement nationwide. With today being July 22, 2026, the rally happens this Sunday.
