Nairobi, Kenya September, 13 Linda Mwananchi Jacaranda Grounds Rally LIVE: Leaders Appeal for Contributions

The Linda Mwananchi political offensive in Nairobi quickly mutated into a dual-front battlefield, with top opposition heavyweights setting their sights on both State House and City Hall ahead of the 2027 General Election. While Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna aggressively championed a grand opposition alliance to topple President William Ruto, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino launched a scathing assault on Governor Johnson Sakaja, positioning himself for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Addressing a charged crowd at the Marikiti Market in the Wakulima area, Senator Sifuna lambasted the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing President Ruto of economic sabotage through punitive taxation, suffocating small enterprises, and state-sanctioned brutality against Kenyan youth.

“We are dealing with a leadership that targets your pockets daily with endless taxes while crushing small businesses,” Sifuna declared, asserting that the President’s time in office was effectively up. He stressed that fracturing the opposition would only play into the regime’s hands, calling on prominent figures—including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—to forge an unbreakable coalition to secure a victory in 2027.

Concurrently, Babu Owino seized the podium to dismantle Governor Sakaja’s track record, pointing to systemic failures in waste management, persistent water scarcity, severe unemployment, and a collapsing healthcare system.

Gesturing to heaps of uncollected waste at Marikiti, the Embakasi East lawmaker questioned the competence of the current county leadership.

“Nairobians cannot have a governor hiding away in City Hall while our major markets rot in filth,” Owino shouted.

He promised a radical overhaul if elected Governor in 2027, pledging to create jobs through decentralized waste-management syndicates, stock public hospitals with critical pharmaceuticals, and ensure county workers are paid on time.

The high-octane day kicked off with morning prayers at the All Saints Cathedral before the political caravan moved through Nairobi’s trading hubs, culminating in the mega-rally at Jacaranda Grounds.
