Nancy Kigunzu AKA Mathe wa Ngara Demands Answers on Recovered Funds
Nancy Kigunzu, popularly known as Mathe wa Ngara, is seeking clarification regarding the whereabouts of the Ksh13.4 million that was confiscated during a police raid on her alleged drug den. Mathe, represented by lawyers Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta, expressed her concerns in court on Monday, August 28, 2023.
The defense team raised questions about the money, which was initially intended to serve as evidence in the case, but was allegedly moved without their client’s knowledge. They argued that the government had no right to seize the funds in question.
During the court proceedings, the defense lawyers directly questioned the custody of the exhibit, emphasizing that the integrity of the asset recovery process should be a priority in this case. They demanded to know who currently holds the seized money.
In response, the prosecution assured the court that they possess proper documentation detailing the chain of custody for the funds. However, they clarified that these documents would be presented to the court on a later date, rather than immediately.
The intriguing case of Mathe wa Ngara continues, as both the defense and prosecution work to provide further insights into the matter.
