5G Network is available in Kenya in Safaricom Sim. It was first introduced in 2022 covering Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kisii, and Kakamega.
Safaricom has gone beyond bars extending 5G coverage to other counties like Kilifi, Kwale, Nakuru, Laikipia, Uasin Gishu, Garissa, Kericho, and Marsabit. This brings to a total of 21 Counties served with 5G Super Fast Internet.
“As a digital lifestyle enabler, we are excited about a 5G future, which makes it possible to close the digital divide in underserved communities, provide access to critical services such as healthcare or spur economic growth by connecting small businesses to new opportunities,” Safaricom PLC CEO Peter Ndegwa said.
5G compatible devices are the only ones that will serve 5G Internet. If you already own a 5G device, you don’t need a new phone. But if your device is not 5G capable you can visit any of Safaricom shop outlets where they have a wide range of 5G enabled phones that you can purchase. In addition, you will need to be in an area that has 5G coverage.
