Former cabinet Secretary for interior Dr Fred matiang’i as been summon to the Director of Criminal Invatigation headquarters today on 24, February, 2023. Dr Matiang’i had been summon over the allegations that police raid his home on 8 February . Failure to which he will be liable for prosecution.
According to the summon issued to Matiang’i by detective Micheal k. Sang to the DCIs Serious Crime Unit , Matiang’i is to help the government in Invatigation against him false information contrary to section 23 of Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act 2018.
But Dr Fred matiang’i said his lawyer Danstan Omari will handle the matter since he will anabled to attend since he will be out of the country .
” I have reason to believe that you, Dr Fred Matiang’i , the former cabinet Secretary , ministry of interior and national coordination, is connected to offence or as information which can assist in my Invatigation,” the summon said.
This development comes 2 weeks after , Dr Fred matiang’i , through his lawyer Danstan Omari and other brigade of politicians led by former prime minister Raila Odinga and the governor of Kisii Simba Arati , claimed that the former interior cabinet Secretary’s was being raided by mult- agency including DCI and Anti-corruption commission.
” There are procedures that govern how to summon, arrest , question and even prosecute someone in court . We do not just raid people’s house at night . It turned out their was no raid and maybe the former Cs was apprehensive. I can say without fear, no police officer went to for CS’s resident ,” Cs kindiki said.
