The World Health Organization has officially declared the ongoing Ebola Virus disease outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) after a rapid rise in infections and deaths linked to the rare bundibugyo strain.

The Health authorities say the outbreak began in Eastern DR Congo’s Ituri Province before crossing to Uganda. The Officials have reported over 300 suspected ebola cases and atleast 80 death cases. The virus has already reached in major uburn centers including Bunia, Goma, and Uganda’s capital city Kampala.
