HELB – The Higher Education Loans Board in Kenya has issued fresh new updates ahead of the opening of the students’ loans portal for July applications 2026. It has advised students who sat for their 2025 KCSE examinations to prepare key documents ahead of the portal’s opening in July, emphasizing the importance of having all necessary information readily available to ensure a smooth application process.

Students are encouraged to gather their identification documents, academic certificates, and any additional paperwork that may be required. Furthermore, the board highlighted the significance of adhering to submission timelines to avoid any delays in accessing financial support for their higher education endeavors.

As the application window approaches, students are urged to stay informed about the application procedures and guidelines, which will be crucial in securing their loans in a timely manner.

In a statement, Wednesday 17, June 2026, the agency stated tat early preparations would save them time once the official portal is open.

Further more, HELB key requirements that applicants must have ready before they attempt to submit their appplications online.

Applicants will need;

  1. A valid email address
  2. Mobile number
  3. KCPE & KCSE index number
  4. Passport size photograph in JPEG, JPG or PNG Format
  5. A copy of National Identity or Maisha Card
  6. Bank details or Valid Mpesa number
